ممکن است رنگ دایرکتوری ها واضح نباشد یا مورد علاقه شما نباشد. بجای تنظیم رنگ در نرم افزار هایی مثلputty می توانید رنگ را برای هر یوزر در لینوکس ( و در اینجا Ubuntu یا CentOS ) به طریق زیر تغییر دهید
1- فایل .dircolors را در دایرکتوری home یوزر دلخواه درج کنید. چنانچه با root لاگین می شوید این دایکتوری /root می باشد. توجه کنید که در ابتدای نام فایل دات ( . ) وجود دارد. نام این فایل برای centos برابر .dir_colors است. 2- از کلاینت ssh ( مثلاً putty ) یکبار خارج و دوباره وارد شوید. 3- بنا به میل خود رنگها را تغییر داده و برای اعمال از کلاینت ssh خارج و دوباره وارد شوید یا در حالت پیشرفته از دستور source استفاده کنید.
